Sugaring is similar method to waxing, and for that reason it is often called sugar waxing or Persian waxing. History goes all the way to Egypt where women were using this method to remove unwanted hair as a sign of youth, beauty and innocence. This mass sticks to hair but it doesn’t stick to skin and for that reason it is supposed to be less painful and many users can confirm that.
You can either buy prepared sugar wax in store or make one by yourself at home with common households. What you need is following:
- 1 unit of sugar
- 1/8 unit of lemon juice
- 1/8 unit of water
Mix all of the ingredients together and heat with often stirring until they are completely liquid, after this liquid will change its color into gold and your sugaring paste is almost done. This will take approximately 25 minutes.
Then move off the heat and leave it like that for about 15 minutes while mixture will partially cool. After that pour the mixture into the air-tight container and leave it as long as necessary to cool completely to room temperature. There you go – you just made your own hair removal potion.
You apply it to your skin and it can be used as waxing with piece of paper or cloth. Just press the paper in the direction of hair growth and pull very quickly in other direction of hair growth.
Pros and Cons of Sugaring
Pros. Sugaring usually lasts for about three to six weeks. It is very cheap and easy to do at comfort of your home.
Cons. It can be painful and very messy especially at the beginning when you have no knowledge to undertake this procedure. It can cause hairs to break off below the skin’s surface.
Sugaring Tips
For less pain and easier pulling you can dust skin area with powder before applying sugaring solution. Hairs will go off much better (especially more thicker and stronger ones) if they are longer – for about 5 mm.
